Henry's letter below sums up who I am and how I try help other riders, some whom I've never met. I'd guess I spent a good 1/2 day installing Henrys Dussualt undertail with him at my house. He expressed his concern for doing it himself and simply asked if I would do the job for money.

I did not know him from adam when he emailed me. As he will tell you I turned down the money and told him to bring his bike over and I'd help him for free. In fact I insisted that it would be for free. And to clear things up, Henry left me a tip, I believe $50.00 hidden in my toolbox for helping him which I discovered a few weeks later.

I did not see him until we started Trackoholics where he signed up in ur Novice group.

The speedmadness.com website has been a great source of valuable information for me over the past few years. In fact, I have found its content and the site owner to be of impeccable regard. I needed help installing an aftermarket part on my Yamaha R1. Not only was I able to find detailed installation instructions on the speedmadness website (the instructions there provided more detail than the instructions on the vendors website), but the site owner even volunteered his time, tools, and experience to help me install the aftermarket accessory. He did this at no charge and for a complete stranger!

It is not often that we can find honest, non-biased information on aftermarket parts. Information not backed by corporate money. I happen to believe the product evaluations found on the speedmadness website to be true, honest evaluations, not biased on personal vengeance or kickbacks. Providers of quality products and service have nothing to fear from this site.

Hi Jim,

I just visited your web site for the first time, I'm impressed, it is very well made! With your permission I might want to use some of your pictures for my web site, especially the ones for the tail installation, do you mind?

Thanks

Hi Jim,

Nice to hear from you again!! Your bike is great!! I love it, I will use your pictures on my web site for sure! The offer of the Aprilia parts is great, I think I will accept anything they can do to make me work on it, I need the complete tail section, black undertray and tail lights, I would also love to get a Mille R, but my 02 R1 came in, it's in the shop now and I haven't sold any of the other bikes (99 turbo R1 and the 01 1000 Gixxer), the money is not a problem but if I get another bike I might also get a divorce (that I can't afford):-), but I am ok if I sell only one, maybe this spring, in the mean time could you come back to me with a price? that would be appreciated,

Thanks

Hi Jim,

Yes I am very interested in working with you! I did check out your web site, nd it is very nice. I would also like to reach more R1 owners, typically our product has been sold to Suzuki and Kawasaki guys the longest and is more well known on their forums. Just send me a mailing address and I will send a unit out this week for you.

Hi Jim,

My name is Todd. I am one of the owners of Kneedraggers.com. A customer told me today, that he found out about us on your site. I went there and read your rant and raves. Besides getting a laugh, I found what you said about our company. What can say besides thank you very much! I feel all warm and fuzzy. It is great to help people, and have them happy, but what a great feeling seeing someone take the time to let other people know about the service they received! I have bookmarked your site, and will check it out daily! Thanks again for the nice words. Good luck with all your business in 2002!

Have a great Holiday,

Todd Munro KNEEDRAGGERS

Thanks a lot Jim.

You've got a great site, and we're always directing guys there. Keep up the good work.

Hi Jim,

I just wanted to let you know that your website (speedmadness.com) has been one of the better places to go on the net these days. All the tech info and honest reviews have really helped me sort my way through this big sportbike world. It's sites like yours that make the net and the sportbike world better places to be. Don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise!! Thanks for all your time and efforts!!

Jim,

I read your site and really enjoyed it. Especially your nice words about your dad and him starting a company. The way I found your site, strangely enough, is that my own dad, who also died, used to own the company Lubri-Tech, which was one of your sponsors, I believe. I'm hoping to find any and all products with Lubri-Tech's logo on it -- clothes, products, magazine stories. Any ideas?

Jim,

You are the man. Got the CD. Geez, that really brings back memories. Fond ones. Hey, thanks a lot, Jim. We just had our first kid, and now more than ever I'm feeling the pull of history and looking at my dad's life.

* Ken works for GQ magazine as a writer and his father owned Lubri Tech in the 70's and was one of my sponsors during my dirtbike days. I dug up all of the old stuff I had for him to show his new born son.

Hello Jim,

You have a really impressive site. I also love what you have done to your bike. Your reviews on the products are veryinformative. Thanks for the information. Anyway I did not want to take up too much of your time. Just wanted to let you know you have got a new avid fan of your site. And if you hear of anything going on in IL or nearby areas let me know.

Ride safe - Thanks again.Sanjay Zachariah

----------------------------

Hey Jim,

Remember me! I just gave your site a shot the other day. Low and behold it was back. I read the whole site. Great to see you putting back all the information. From all the issues you have had, 2002 was a stressful year. I hope this coming year is better for ya. Since you are going back to the purist way of your site, that may be what works for you and where you are happiest. I am just glad to see your site, I am a novice so your "how-to's" and descriptions really help me.

I still have my 99 R1 with the rearsets I got from you. They are real nice, riding position is much better. I only tracked my bike once last year at Road America. I loved it, the track is where it is at. You are so right on that one. I still love canyon carving, but testing the limit is best on the track.I moved to Texas this past year so I did not get as much riding in. I will this year for sure!! I was considering the 2004 R1 or the new Mille R for my next bike, I will still be torn on that decision for a while. Your info on the Mille basically hooked me to considering it further. Thanks again for all the information.

Keep in touch. Best to you. Ride safe.-Sanjay
Hello Jim,

I linked to your website from the Aprilia Forum, and it is great! I'm really impressed with the write up you've done on the bike and it looks fantastic.I wanted to know how it's going with the Mychron 3 Dash, that product looks great! Does it work yet? How is it going with making it easier to install for maladroits like myself? I'd really be interested in getting one once you can get it easier to install. Thanks again for the great website. I look forward to your updates soon.

Best regards, Jeffrey de Gracia -- 2000 Mille R Raleigh, NC

----------------------------

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the great response. On behalf of all serious Mille owners/track enthusiasts, THANK YOU for your efforts. I'm really interested in the MyChron dash but am a complete moron with working on my own bike, so your efforts would directly benefit people like me. Are you planning on any more track days at VIR? I live 62 miles away and usually do 10+ days a year, but haven't done any yet.I'm looking to following your progress.

Thanks again! Jeffrey

----------------------------

Hi Jim,

That really saddens me, as you have done a great service to riders like myself with you helpful insights in and information provided via you website. The marketing people at Aprilia USA and the track organization should be FIRED! If there is anything I can do to help you out, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks again for the info on the MyChron, and I hope this doesn't diminish your enjoyment of riding the Aprilia too much.

Just wanted to say thanks for putting together a lot of awesome info on R1's. I just got mine a few days ago new and I found a lot of good stuff on your page.

Dear Jim,

Wanted to let you know how much I've enjoyed the pictures and the tall tales about Deal's Gap. Mostly I wanted to express my thanks to you and all for taking Iain in and making him feel a part of your group. He had a blast. I hope he can make the trip (at least) an annual pilgrimage!

Best wishes, Rachel Brown

Sorry to hear about your internet woes. Your site is very helpful means of getting information that is unbiased and factual. It is a shame that we have to worry about what we say and do, due to lawyers in this country just waiting for someone to call for a lawsuit. Like you said what happened to freedom of speech, what happened to every man's thoughts and ideas were as important as anothers. It seems that it just doesn't exist any longer. We bend to the will of the corporation and lawyer. It is a shame that this happened to you. Keep fighting the good fight, you have our support.

Pete

P.S. If you could let me know who the scumbag that is causing you this trouble I will make sure they don't get my business or others.

Jim,

I don't know if I ever expressed to you exactly how grateful I am for the picture you got me, the autographed picture you got me from Daytona. I was very moved that you did it for me. I have shown in off to just about everyone. I just what to make sure that you knew how much I really appreciate it.=====

I would really like to thank you for your incredibly informative site. It must have taken a great deal of time and effort(understatement).Besides to express my appreciation for your site, I was wondering if you could answer a quick query. I recently purchased a 2000 R1 as a street bike. I had been racing a number of years in the Midwest but I wanted to do some touring/commuting. Anyway, I noticed that your R1 had frame sliders - were they Intuitive or some other brand? Thanks again for your website. It is a wonderful resource - something difficult to locate in the www.

Jim,

Hello again, this is Jeff, Don's friend from the ZX7 list. Just letting you know I'm interested in the track days your are trying to put together. Also, kudos' to you for promoting the sport the way it should be done. Excellent job on the various sites you have created and maintained. Hope everything turns out in your favor in the battle with the "axis of evil" of the sport bike world, you two deserve the credit for all your had work and sacrifices.

Thank you, Jeff
ANONYMOUS EMAIL COMMENT TO ME FROM A FELLOW TRACKDAY RIDER

Why do the chicks get a shit load of free stuff (i.e. t-shirts etc.) and cheap track time when us guys provide the majority of cash for these fuckers and get nothing. It makes me want to don a skirt and boob tube for the next track day just to get some free stuff.
Just a quick thank you for setting up such a honest to the CENSORED WORD point website aboutsportriding.I've been riding sportbikes for some years now here in S.Cal for roughly 4,5 years ( I started when the Dunlop 364 was the SS tire to have ! ). There's so many 'filler' sites about how you need, CENSORED WORD irdium this, titanium that, but having something written by a rider for other riders is completely refreshing and thanks again.
Holy Smokes ... your return email was fast as hell ! I forgot to mention earlier that your website totally kicks ass ... and I will be telling my friends about it asap. Stay cool, Jim, and good luck with your racing this year !

Jim,

I'm sure you don't remember me but I contacted you a while ago about some tire and oil questions I had. you really gave me some good info, and for that I was/am very appreciative. I haven't checked your site for a while, as work has really got me bogged down at the moment. I was surprised to hear that you are selling the Aprilia. Although, after having ridden a friend's RC-51, I can see why you aren't the biggest fan of twins after owning an inline four. I liked the 51 enough to have a good time on, but when it came time to sign the check at the dealer, I couldn't go with a twin. Gotta be an inline for me!

That being said, on to more important matters.I was glad to see that you still have a ton of info on the site, even for bikes you don't even own anymore. I really am thankful you put the service manual on your site, it's come in very handy. I also like the fact that since you have the opportunity to test so many different products you give reviews and opinions as well.I guess what my tired mind is trying to say in a rather round about way is "Excellent job! Well done! I hope the site continues to grow!"

And most importantly of all, thank you for your efforts. Please keep this excellent site running.

Kind regards, Scott

Jim,

Hello, how are you? I have to say that I really like the site. I've gotten some good ideas from it. Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and have a great weekend. I've told numerous friends about your site and they've all enjoyed it as well.

Jim,

Great update to the web site. Lots of helpful info. I know you said that people shouldn't e-mail you with questions, but I never listen to directions. Anyhoo...sorry to bother you with all of these questions, I just didn't know where to turn. Thanks and have a great holiday season.

Jim,

I also want to let you know that I appreciate the best/worst dealers/suppliers list. I too had problems with Starcycle. From now on I'll check your list before I buy. Have you tried the Metzeler Sport-Tec tires yet? I think they go under the name of M-1 or something similar. Also, what is your opinion of Yamalube & Golden Spectro synthetic blend oils for street riding?Anyhow, I know you're busytoo so I won't take up much more of your time. Thanks again for the web page. I'll keep checking for future updates.

Scott Whittler
Hi Jim,

You've been helpful with your information that you've shared in the past and have been kind and courteous to this sportbike newbie!!I've signed up for my first track day on Feb 16 at Talladega Grand Prix. I'm excited and a little nervous. I'd like to say that you gave me the idea that I could ride on the track after I talked to you when I visited SPEEDMADNESS.COM.It was kind of exciting getting to meet a guy with track time and get pointers from someone who knows how to ride. It was cool that you invited me to come along and ride the BLANK in August. All of this would have never happened if you hadn't kept up the web site. Hope this note lifts the spirits a little.

Hang in there and know that the guys at the BLANK have you in their thoughts. David
Jim,

Thank you for all your help it has all been very helpful.I did put a full akro on my bike and didn't put the EXUP servo on there. Again thank you it is not everyday that your able to find someone willing to help you. I have done all the work my self to save money.

Jim,

I think Speedmadness is an excellent site and great source of info for sportbikes riders....it's helped me out in the past and I always welcome opinions on products and vendors etc.I hope Speedmadness is able to keep going in an uncensored form.

Jim,

Thanks for the quick reply and the extensive amount of info..much appreciated!

Jonas.Musson@bmwna.com
Great site BTW. Especially liked the writeup on the YZF750. I'm sure my lovely better half would have both balls if I tried to spend this kind of money on mine, but she doesn't understand the concept.
Thanks for the info !

Any suggestions on some beginner mods ? (maybe ones that do not require a Guru ? ) I don't know of anyone I can trust here in central Ohio to even wash my bike let alone put a cold wrench to it.
Hello Jim,

I stumbled upon your website, and was very impressed with your R1. I have an R1, and I am looking for some race parts. do you have any parts left from that bike? I would definitely be interested.
Jim (if I remember correctly, please forgive me if I am wrong about your name),

On your awesome website, you describe the Muzzys system as being of all Titanium, weighing only 5 lbs. Muzzys told me that their all Ti R1 system is stainless headers and Ti canister. Can you enlighten me on this? Is their a full Ti system for the R1 from Muzzys?
Hi Jim,

First off I just wanted to say thanks for putting together a first rate site- genuinely informative and fun to check out- with lots of detail. If you get a chance to respond that would be great. If you can"t ( this site looks like full time job!) thanks anyway andthanks again for the excellent web site.
Hello Jim,

First off good to see the site back up and running again. I am one of those people who appreciate the info and honesty that you bring to the table.
Jim,

Hope everything is well with you, I was at little talladega this year for the trackday thatsst put on. I was looking forward to meeting you but I was involved in the novice school and never managed the time to say hello. I greatly enjoyed your old website when it was up and running. I don't think a week went by when I didn't check in and take a look.I just want to thank you for all the time and effort that you are putting into start it back. I am a big yamaha fan and I own a 2000 R1, hope to catch you at one of next years track days.

Again....great website, looking forward the updates.

We are starting our own website called www.miracingteam.com. My only hope is that it will provide half as much entertainment as speedmadness.com has done over the years. Keep up the good work and fuck everyone else who are just out to screw the world.

First off, great to see that you have not succumbed to these companies that want to shut down the greatest sport bike/track day site on the net. I've said it once and i will say it again " f@ck 'em all"

Jim,

Thanks for putting together your web site. Since finding your site on the web I visit it often.I would appreciate any recommendations on modifications as long as they won't break the bank. I'm a United States Marine so I don't make large amounts of money. Keep on telling the truth and if it pisses people off great. That's what makes this country so great, differences of opinions.

Hey Jim,

Great site, I'm especially interested in the "set up your bike section" as I'm about to jet my R1. I hope you finish it soon so it can help me with the tuning of mine. I love sites with 'how to' sections.

Hi Jim,

My name is Sebastien from Toronto, CanadaI just want to congradulate you for your fantastic website and all the usefull information. You are a very cool guy too!
I got your email from your site, great site by the way. I just picked up an R1 and was referred to your site to set up the suspension. My bike is totally stock, and I would like to ride it on the street and participate inat least 12 track days before I do any modifications. I have read about 15 suspension tuning articles, some of which are on your siteand everyone sets the sag different. I've seen everything from 10mm(Bike Magazine) to 30mm(2WF.com). I know your a busy guy, butI would greatly appreciate any help you can offer.

Jim-

Your completed R1 looks amazing. Thanks for the input... and keep updating your site, I know of a lot of guys that look at it.

To Aprilia USA,

I am writing to let you know I am a supporter of SPEEDMADNESS.COM. I visit this site because I like the tone and the advice and information I learn there. It is a great source for me to learn about my motorcycle. I currently own a 2000 Yamaha R1 but am not above trying other machines. I very much appreciate Jim's efforts in maintaining this site and voicing his opinions and views. I have even spoke personally with Jim via telephone and email about the expansion of his site to include the Aprilia Mille R. I am interested to see how this turns out and wish you would give him the chance to do some write ups about this bike and several other products. Companies can do all the advertising they want, but when a single individual takes the time out of his schedule to market and write for a company... well, that shows me dedication. I think Jim is dedicated to this sport and would love to be able to read about the adventures with the Mille R in the near future.

Thanks for your time. Dan Blake
Hi Jim,

Just checked out the pics of the R1 following the rebuild.....it looks fantastic, I'll be interested to read your opinions on how it handles are you get some track miles upKind

Jim,

Once more I want to thank you, you dont know how helpfull you have been to the R1 community. People in the R1-forum recommend your site all the time, a friend of mine with an R1 was the one who told me about your site.

Thanks Felipe Melendez
Hi Jim,

Let me first say that you have a great site. I was on the internet the other day and stumbled across your page and have been reading on it since. The thing that made me stop and check it out is that I also own a 2000 R1 with the same color scheme as yours. I'm impressed with the knowledge of the setup and different opinions of the three exhaust systems that I have considered buying for my bike.

Thanks for your time, David Streetman R1 Fan
First off, I think you have a great site. I really like the way you organized your links page!

Allen Shirey
Thanks for your great site! I think all of the sections are justified in their own way butof course I find some of them more interesting: Set up your bike, YZF R1/750 (I love Yamahas!), Downloads (Thanks!) Keep up as much as you can please!

Karl Eriksson EUROPE
Hey Jim,

Love your site, I've had it bookmarked for more than 6 months now and have checked back often. My favorite sections: product and bike reviews and comparisons. I found the site searching for R1 info.

Thanks for sharing,

I send you Jim Sheldon more thanks for information about R1 on your site.

To Aprilia USA,

Please sell the gent that runs Speedmadness.com a Mille R so that I can see the modifications he makes to them.. it would help me determine if I really want to purchase an Aprilia in the future.. Jim Sheldon does a great job on his website. The information is very useful and nearly every sportbike rider I meet knows about his site and visits regularly for additional news/updates.

Thanks for listening ..Allen "Spence" Spencer
Hi,

Was just checking out your website. Very cool. The Mille R gives me a stiffy but for now I ride a YZF750. I understand you partedout your YZF750 but was wondering if you had anything left?

Thanks
Mike Napolitano
Hi, just finished going through your new website. Looks great.

I saw that you had a YZF750 before the R1. I'm in need of suggestions on how to tune the stinking carbs on this beast.

I've got a 97 YZF750, basically stock except for a V & H SS2R slipon. The problem is the stock Mikuni flat slide carbs. They've got an off idle bog that I can't seem to get rid of. I noticed you ditched these carbs, was this because of problems tuning them?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also if you have anymore YZF750 parts laying around, I'm interested in getting spares.

Thanks, Gary Dean
Hello.

Im not sure how I stumbled upon your site. I have a few friends that ride R6's and R1 (own as well) and Im in the process of saving for an R6 so needless to say they send me every link imaginable regarding Yamaha R1 and R6.I have been bittem by the bug allright. Just wanted to say I think your awesome. Reading about all your accomplishments was so fun. Not too mention you thought NorCal was the best place to ride. I frequent hwy's 35,9 and 82 at least 3xs a week.

(Skyline)Cheers!Catchdakitty11 @ Yahoo.com
Thank you my friend,

I have mentioned your site to quite a few people on the R1 forum, its one of the few sites I have found that actually gives intelligent advice on the R1

VMX@optonline.net
Right off the bat, my spelling as well could be lack luster. I have to say that your web sight is top shelf., just the right info that needs to written about from people who really enjoy sportbikes, to people of the same. I am also an avid Yamaha fan and also own a 01 red R1 as well as a 91 fzr 600.

I was reading your raves and i guess bitching section and i had to laugh.. I am glad to hear the feeling of contempt towards dealerships is popular. The feeling of what seems to me as being privileged enough to pay a dealership money to get screwed by them is ridiculous. On the other hand if you are fortunate enough to be able to get the part you are looking for is in or will be able to find its way through the numerous backorders that nobody seems to have the decency to tell you about, that is until you call to see if your part is in.

I bought the R1 in May of 01 , new and started to change it as soon as possible. I went with Goodridge ss lines fr&rr, Eurobikes. Eurotail which was a nightmare as well, minus the fairing splitting problem (yet), also purchased a solotail section from Sharkskinz withthe access door. I will agree that their finish and quality is real good, one complaint that i had with it was the taps underneathwere pre drilled by what looked liked someone who had 10 seconds to do it. In other words 3 out of the 8 holes were not even close to matching up. I had to fill them in with the same resin and cloth that they use and then drill them out myself, i guess that's aftermarket bodywork for you.

Another really good sight for bodywork is QB Carbon in the UK, next time. As far as the Street & Comp bitch is concerned I have to that as far as I go I am nothing but pleased with them. I live in NH and never had a problem with shipping, even tracksidewhen they go to NHIS in june. Anyhow in closing I own 2 Arai helmets, one is a KRJR and i just bought a Matsudo and i will ay that they are the best, only now we can look forward to getting screwed by the best. Also do you have any plans on changing the wheels on your R1? I was planning on purchasing some Marvic pentas or some Marchesinis for mine. This could be a good subject to get some input on.

undewoman@netscape.net
Thanks for your fast and informative information. And again thanks for the Internet address. Desires still another accident-free season

Alexander - Vienna / Austria
Who can I contact to bitch loudly about your situation and my dissappointment at your predicament. I am sure I am not alone and I can contact Aprilia and whoever to raise hell. Yes their track demos are a good idea. But NO, they are not available to the majority of us. Not all of us have a participating track anywhere near us. I for one do not. Nor can I easily test ride an Aprilia at Daytona Bikeweek or the Americade or etc....etc.... Therefore I voice that its bullshit that they are not taking care of you. And I will tell them so if you simply say the word and who I should contact. Maybe I...and others can set the situation straight. They obviously don't realize you are a resource to present owners and future buyers. Hell, your site is basically an advertisement for them. They must be really stupid not to realize that!
Once again. Very sad to see you in your current situation as you seem to be a top person based on your site. I sure do feel bad about the whole thing.Keep in touch.

Best George
This is the best superbike related web-site I've been to and believe me, I've been to alot. I'm a Boeing aerostructure mechanic who now troubleshoots adsl circuits for the tele co.

I'm working on getting another GSXR in the near future and hope I see you out there on the curves.I thought I was the only person who could be interested in so many un-related things.

My father-in-law just bought the FZ1 and its bad as hell but I think I want something w/clip-ons. Look I'm flattered you read this far. Don't feel like you need to respond.

I'ts just nice 2 see someone else that is interested in the same cool shit. Again, killer web-site

Hello Jim,

I have e-mailed you before in the past commenting on the helpfullness of you sight. What interests me is the rant and raves section. The complaints are all too familiar and i was wondering about an idea that i had. What if you could create a section on youre sight that people could submit comments on shops, mail order companies etc. The comments could go by states in their respected catagories. Just an idea because it seems the it could be helpfull to people out there who are sick of being screwed, or would like to say a few good things about a place as well. i know i have a few good as well as bad comments to express.

I think the site is badass.

I've found some very useful info there. It's like finally being able to get the straight scoop on what works and what doesn't from someone other than shop who's just trying to make a buck. I have a GSXR 750 and a 900 RR, both 1997. The gixxer's got a muzzy and the Honda's got a Hindle so the info you posted regarding both these pipes was particularly interesting to me. Liked how you mounted themhigh like they are, looks great.

Never heard of Ivan's needles before now either so now I'll be looking to get me a set. Good site all around I think. Especially all the pictures, nice to see what things look like before dropping the money on it.

Two thumbs up. - Jason
Just finished looking over your site. I have found loads of useful info. One question I would like to ask: What make of tyre would you recomend for my YZF750R,and also what size front and rear do you think works best. Ok thats 2 questions, sorry.

The weather here in Somerset has been great this easter clocked up some good miles hope you did too.

Cheers
Purple Ronnie.
Thanks for the info. Your site is looking pretty good, except for that Mille, worst twinever!! hehe. I'm just jealous, I wouldn't mind having an Aprilia sit next to my RC51.

Cheers! Ray

Hey Jim !
I just wanted to drop a line to express my sympathy to you and wife during these troubling times. I hope everything turns out ok with your father in law and I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

Also , just checked the site, WTF ? Who bopped you for censorship ??? Considering you can get anything from snuff films to kiddie porn all on the net and they want to censor your site ?I could understand if you posted incriminating photos of the Dale Earnhart autopsy or something like that but all your site does is tell the truth. Are you sponsoring an Al-Queda sleeper cell ???? LOL

Any way , I wish you and yours all the best. Keep strong and keep it going!

Hey Jim !

Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you. Thanks for the info on the carb adjustments. That made alot of sense to me.Here is what I finally did. Since my idle was not holding on after a few blips I ( with the help of the site you gave me ) adjusted the air bleeder screws in 1/8 of a turn and TADA ! that was all I needed to get up and out. I did have to leave my idle at 1500rpm but I figured that's not too bad. We have had some of the best weather down here recently and I had to get the beast out and test it ! I liked the R-1 over the RSV when I first bought the Mille but now after the mods , I don't think I could be more happier with another machine ( unless it's the fabled Blue Marlin).I weigh around 250lbs and this bike under moderate acceleration pull the front wheel off the ground in second gear ...... and gets light in third. The R1 never did that unless it was coming over a crest. Thanks again for the help ....... You get the Motorcycle Samaritian of the year award in my book !!!!!

Just had to say that if I had a website this is how I would set it up. I mean this kindof info and thoroughness. I check this site alot. I'm also from Michigan (grew up in Detroit - my old man's a retired Detroit Cop) but I'm currently stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA - USMC.My wife is from northern Cal and I have to agree with you on your assessment of great places to ride. Though Ortega Highway (U.S. 74) and Palomar Mountain here in SoCal are great also. I used to work for a small ISP/Networking company before I joined the Corps. I'm actually an accountant by trade but just got tired of crunchin' numbers. So here I am. Most of my buddies back in "the glove" ride even though it's pretty flat in Michigan. Never heard of Deals Gap though? Excuse my ignorance.

I currently have two bikes, a GSXR750 and CBR 900RR both are 97's. Great machines. I actually have alot of family on my mom's side that live in Seattle also. Small world I guess. Anyway didn't mean to get so long winded but just wanted to say great web site. Alot of great info and insight, one of my most visited sites keep it up.

Later on.Semper Fi,

P.S. I couldn't agree more about your assessment of the "Evil Empire - Microshit" even though I'm using a PC at the moment :( I'm a big MacIntosh fan.)

I like the others agree that this is a great site. Very helpful to myself as a R1 owner. I actually bought some parts from Jim and I can say he is a real stand up guy. No bullshit and real life opinions about the sport and products, this site has saved me a lot of money and time with me bike. Keep up the awesome work and people do appreciate it.

Thanxs

Not sure what the hell is going on, but I can't believe anyone can pull shit like that. If only more people would be informative about stuff like that, slack services and products would be eliminated. Good job Jim.

Look forward to seeing you again at Grattan.

Also, I think you site is kick ass! May I add a link to it from my site for you? I don't expect a return link. I just like places that offer good info!
