I began designing my first race sim platform around 1998. After a few ididarations I finally ended up with the platform shown below.

What I was looking for was a completely adjustable platform and so after building a few different setups I ended up dismantling a rowing machine and working from there.
I ordered a seat from a mail order company and used a Momo force feedback steering wheel/pedal setup.
The setup allowed for multiple steering height and distant changes, an forward and back adjustable seat setup and surround sound.

The computer was purpose built for gaming only.
I ran a multitude of race SIMs on this setup, IndyCar Racing I and II, Nascar Racing, many versions, Sports Car GT ,Le Mans, Precision Racing, Grand Prix vesrdions I through 4 (my all time favorite race SIM), Grand Prix Ledgends, Power F1, Formula One Racing, Formula One Championship Edition, Monoco Grand Prix I and II, Grand Prix Manager.
Geoff Crammond the designer/programmer of the Micro Prose Grand Prix series is the master race SIM creator and I miss him since he stopped work on the series.
All in all this thing gave hours of entertainment to everyone. It is currently retired and I am working on a new platform design.
