This was the year I spent working with STT and the long of the short is that when the year was over I had no problem walking away from their way of doing business. There were a few others who came to the same conclusion and did likewise.
Rather than go into any kind of details since they are so sue happy, suffice it to say it was a horrible experience for Karoline and I. Along the way I had brought my brother into the deal and he decided to stay with them eventually running their Southern division.
Although I enjoyed riding with Mark one thing is for sure, he and I do not follow the same paths in regards to the trackday business, something we should have known as we had the same issues during our dirt bike racing careers and so I decided that it would be best if we went our separate ways and we have since spoken to each other once in 2005 at VIR during a WERA race. I don't miss the drama and I'm sure he feels the same.
Don and I spent the year traveling with the STT circus and although we rode a lot of tracks, I had so much on my plate that it mostly became a blur. What it did do is give me the motivation to start up Trackoholics, and to devise a way to run a smaller, less crowed evnt that was profitable. It also allowed meto built the Trackoholics Race team both of which we Karoline and I ran through the end of 2005.
In winter 2005 I switched gears and began working with Aaron, Matt and Shaun at Take it 2 the Track out of San Diego, California. It was a nice change because after working with STT these guys were a group of guys where honesty and integrity meant something, and that makes a huge difference in your motivation and the relationship. I helped them through 2007 when I decided to retire for good from motorcycling.
